I had my consult with the surgeon Dec 14. since than everything has moved very quickly. I have my psychological evaluation on jan 21. This is my last step before setting a pre-op appointment. And going through boot camp.

I am hoping to have surgery sometime mid/late February.

I was wondering if anyone had dreams before their surgery. Every night I dream about sleeve life. Sometimes I am skinny and only eating a few bites and feeling full, other times I am throwing up cause I over ate. Is this normal? I feel crazy seeing as my surgery is still so far away.

Thanks!

Wow, pretty accurate dreams!

Skinny, only eating a few bites, feeling full,.... yup.

Throwing up doesn't happen very often, though, for me. I know what brings it on when I do.

My dreams are normally far more removed from reality. I would say you are quite rational.

I agree that you don't throw up too often, the closest I've gotten is with potatoes..for some odd reason I can't tolerate them and I found that out the hard way. I don't think you are crazy, I often dream about being skinny and how it will affect my life and happiness. Those are always nice dreams :)

It's like become an obsession it's all I think about. If I eat something now I think to myself wow one or two bites in a few months ad I will be done.

If you look at food addiction as substance abuse, as I do, the dreams that you are having may make more sense. When substance abusers quit their drug of choice, many tend to have "using dreams" where they are using or thinking about using again, or they dream about triggers that cause them to crave using.

food is my substance, as well as most people on these boards. Within a week after my surgery, I had a dream that I ate a whole pizza, buffalo wings, some donuts, and a couple of other things. I had eaten them so fast that I didn't think about my sleeve until after I looked at all of the carnage in the form of wrappers on the floor. Then I realized I was sleeved and my stomach started hurting and I woke up. It was so real that for a couple of seconds after waking up, I thought that I had actually eaten all of that food!

Have you already started dieting and limiting your food intake? That could have triggered those dreams too! You are not crazy!

I have started but not to the degree that my sleeve will. I guess your right I am definitely a food addict and I definitely think your right. I just hope that I am not alone dreaming of food seems a little crazy and new to me.

I dreamt about food for as long as I can remember in my life. I thought about what I would have for dinner at Breakfast. Since I have had the sleeve I have been released of these dreams & I am less obsessed with food, thankfully!!!

Before my surgery I was very worried about the surgery because I did not want to make a mistake. For years I had not been ready to give up my food, I needed my food. Now I felt ready but it was still a worry. Anyhow I went forward, I found support, I love the results and I am working the tool. I am still the same person so I am a bit obsessive, but it is now exercise, yahoo.

Good luck with your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
