Mystie 146 Posted January 11, 2013 I'm praying I can still tolerate sushi post open. I LOVE it. I told my husband we'll order a boat, I'll have like 4 pieces and he gets the rest.

[/quote'] I love seaweed salad!! I am almost 5 weeks post op and can tolerate it just fine. I, like many others, still can't handle the rice. Also no cucumber or other raw veggies. I just order the fish (eel) I like and have it wrapped in seaweed paper with some eel sauce and maybe a little cream cheese. 1 delta_girl reacted to this
suepeeps 230 Posted January 12, 2013 I love sushi! I ate it when my nut cleared me for all food. I have never had a problem with it. I can only eat a few but they sure are awesome!
Mason 122 Posted January 12, 2013 I was cleared for sashimi (not sushi) at the start of week 4 and it went down very easily and stayed down. Couldn't eat very much of it but what I ate was delicious.
No game 14,437 Posted January 14, 2013 Yahoo!!! Today my husband and son skipped work/ school and we took advantage of the clear weather and took a walk on the beach. Then we had sushi!!! We haven't gone since my surgery and that is the only thing we have when we go out to eat. It was awesome no problems I had one order of salmon sashimi with tons of wasabi. The only weird thing is having so little, it just looks funny...
Fallenangel2904 494 Posted January 15, 2013 I love sushi and really wanted to try it for my birthday last week. I'm 2 months post op. I was able to have salad (I LOVE the ginger dressing so much!) ate half of it. And about 3/4 of an Alaska roll. Was soooooo good!! The rice does sit a little heavier then other foods but I was personally able to tolerate it. I thought I had eaten a lot but thought back to my pre op days where I could eat 4 rolls and realized how much I love my sleeve. And I don't feel deprived one bit
ashelaine 383 Posted January 15, 2013 I've had it twice now! LOVE IT! I've only eaten one piece both times- once at Hibachi and once at Texas De Brazil.
GraceAbounds 11 Posted January 15, 2013 I have had rice at Chinese and Mexican places (4 weeks out) with no issues. Small amounts. Looking forward to Sushi now! Thanks for the topic.
delta_girl 931 Posted January 15, 2013 I had edamame and most of a shrimp shumai appetizer last night. It was really good! I could only eat about 1/2 of the edamame.
No game 14,437 Posted January 15, 2013 If you do the fish only without the rice ( sashimi) It will go down better. Sushi rice has sugar and could be yucky on your tummy I would think...
mrs sandy r 152 Posted January 15, 2013 Thanks everyone , now I know what I'll have for my next dinner .
VSGRachel 25 Posted January 15, 2013 I'm a little over 4 months out. I eat sushi all the time. If I get a roll I ask them to make it with less rice. Just so I can actually eat more of it. I will eat 3-4 pieces of it depending on how prissy my stomach is being. I've been eating sushi (rolls/sushi/sashimi) since a little over two months out.
