buffythefatslayer 66 Posted January 11, 2013 What is the weight loss difference?
deli89 5 Posted January 12, 2013 when i first started to consider weight loss surgery i did come across gastric plication. I did some googling around and it's rather new and they dont really know the long term effect of plication or how effective it is for weight loss.
AStephenson 159 Posted January 12, 2013 I posted about this last week and just talked to my surgeon (who does both) yesterday. His recommendation to me was....If I had diabetes or a family history of diabetes, or a higher BMI, go with the sleeve. If I didn't have any diabetes or as much weight to lose, or thought I could be more strict with myself and put more effort in on my own (meaning relying less on my tool and more on myself) then go with the plication. He said in his experience the weight loss has been comparable, but again..it really is up to the individual and how much work you put in after surgery. I know no one wants to hear that, including myself.
dionysus69 29 Posted March 26, 2013 I have put no effort just followed my Dr's instructions and lost 24lbs in less then 2 weeks!! The Restriction is amazing! No Cutting other then the incisions and its the best surgery ever!! Go Plication!!
Rena's got this 274 Posted March 27, 2013 I was wondering if the hunger hormone Ghrelin (I'm not sure about the spelling) which is greatly reduced after the sleeve, is intact after the plication. That would make a big difference to me...I'm hungry all the time, and am pre-diabetic.
royalsecret 29 Posted March 28, 2013 From my understanding the hunger hormone.would not decrease with the Plication because don't take out part of your stomach like they do with the sleeve.
