I know that it is hard when you are working hard and not making the same progress as others. The reality is that we are all different. We have different approaches or even our genetics might play a role. How are you doing with drinking Water, eating Protein and exercising? There are so many variables that can contribute to different results. Good luck!

I do have to admit, I haven't worked out like I did at the beginning. I was outside walking for a couple of hours each night until winter hit. But I have started some aerobic DVD's and I lost 4 lbs in a week. My Water and Protein are good. I even bought beneprotein and sprinkle it on my food. It does get frustrating, when you see so many losing so much faster. I know everyone is different. So I have to keep reminding myself of that.

My surgery was July 18th, and I've lost 70. So, I'm right there with you!!! I've got to get back to exercising regularly, too. My hair has fallen out tremendously...handfuls every single day. I'm hoping and praying that stops soon. My hair was already so thin, and now I can see my scalp all through my hair. I'm doing all I can-biotin, Vitamins, Protein, and special shampoos. Oh well, enough of my pity self!! I feel great for losing what I have; I gotta get my butt back to the gym! Best wishes & success to everyone!

Your Hair loss will probably end soon. As a fellow July Sleever (7-2-2012), most of my hair loss occurred between month 3 and month 5 post op. now that we are at about 6 months, it is pretty much done shedding. Hang in there! Your hair will come back soon and be more beautiful then ever.

My surgery was July 16, 2012. I hv lost 73 lbs. I hv went from a size 22-24 in pants to a 16 that are baggy. My shirt size went from a 3x to a medium or a large depends on the shirt. I may lose slower than others but Im losing! And so are you! That's exciting and encouraging. It will come off.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
