Mini port?

Recommended Posts

I am 15 months post op, and what a wonderful journey it has been.

My life has changed so much and I feel better than I have in years.

I have lost 201 pounds as of yesterdays visit with the Doc.

6"2, 225 pounds now. Now that I am at my personal goal, I have noticed that with exercise, and the changes my body has gone through, the port

is now pretty noticable (to me), and asked the Doc what could be done to possibly reposition, or just close or seal the port. He said that sealing or removing just the port was not an option, however there was a "mini-port" available to replace the other one currently there. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and had this done? Suggestions, comments?:)

Yes, When I lost enough my ports showed on mky left side. I know I have a small port, it was bigger in the early 2000. I have the Inamed. Maybe now 5 years later there is a smaller port.

The port has to be located in a place where is easy for the Dr. to make the fills. When u gain weight it gets more difficult to locate. Sometimes Drs. need to pinch several times to get the port.

It is also called a low profile port, if you do a search on here there are a bunch of posts about it. http://lapbandtalk.com/search.php?searchid=555045 ~Mandy

Thanks for that tid-bit of info. Something I will look into. With 201 pounds gone, abs shaping up, and the belly-blob gone, I think it will be in the future for me.

Sorry, it worked when I first posted it. I guess the search expired. I typed in low profile port and got several pages of matches. ~Mandy

I have the inamed lowprofile port and love it. I've lost all my weight in my stomach area and this will help keep it from showing. Mine is the Inamed 9.75 low profile port.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
