Low BMI with excess skin.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

I'm 5'1" weight of 215 by BMI is 40. I'm so nervous about excess skin after my surgery. Has anyone ever not had excess skin after surgery? I head low BMIers could possibly not have excess skin depending on how much you loose.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Age, weight, skin resilience, and other factors play in to if you'll have it, and if so, how much. Generally though, the younger you are with less weight = less excess skin and better elasticity.

I was a low BMI'er and I'm starting to see saggy skin in some areas.

I'm 41 yrs old.

Current BMI is 29

Total weight loss since surgery (surgery date 11/26/12) is 20 lbs. Total weight loss since September is 35lbs

I'm seeing the sag start in my lower belly and my arms :(. I'm hoping the Pilates and bootcamp will help but I know it won't eliminate it all

Maybe I'll have surgery for the sag and maybe not... Only time will tell how bad it is. But I'd rather be thinner and healthier with the saggy skin than overweight and miserable with no sag!!

I have not had surgery yet, however my surgeon recommends waiting 2 years before having plastics done. Even after you lose the weight the skin still takes time to shrink.

Start taking collagen now. I take jarrosil. They have liquid collagen you can take before and after. If you get the hair skin and nails kind it will help with hair loss(sometimes happens because of Vitamin deficiencies). Wear compression garments, especially working out. It will help with gravity tugging on skin. Go to vedette or similar sites that offer post plastic surgery garments. They'll have them for bariatrics. There's a great moisturizer...shikai with borage. It is a great moisturizer. Try dry brushing and sulfate free cleaners, such as shikai. It should help. Good luck!

I had a bmi of about 37/38 almost a year ago and i have lost 90 pounds and am about a 23 bmi now. I'm 40 and while there is some loose skin it's not horrific. I'm still debating if I'll pursue plastics or not. Good luck.
