I'm someone who had to go through 6 months of the monthly doctor visits for insurance reasons (started process on July 3, 2012). My surgery was tentatively scheduled for January 15th at my last surgeon appointment (December 19th). That gave me a month to let it settle in. But I told myself I couldn't get excited until after I got my results back from my January 2nd scope. I got the results back on January 7th that I was good to go. But in the meantime I had developed a cold and laryngitis and then was worried my surgery would get delayed. Well today I found out at my pre-op surgeon appointment that I was good to go and that the combination of the cold and the scope most likely caused the laryngitis.

I went back to work after my appointment and I finally let myself get excited for my pending surgery. It has finally sunk in that I am going to go through with something that will change my life forever. My excitement is unmeasurable but I don't show it. I don't think anyone else can relate to me...even my obese parents (I'm 28, btw, and my parents are still a big part of my life). But they don't really ask me too much about what's going on or genuinely share in my excitement. Only all of you can understand. What I think is so weird about me right now is that I am not focused at all on the surgery/pain/recovery. I try to stay focused on the energy I will have when I am 100 pounds lighter...and have a whole new fab wardrobe...and am more confident with myself. These next 4 days are going to be the longest of my life!

I'm right there with you. I don't even have my date yet but in my mind I'm already at goal. For the past two weeks all I've done is look at clothes and dream about how I'm going to change. Lol

I don't have a date yet, but I totally relate to how you feel. I feel VERY excited the more and more real everything is getting, but I also keep it to myself. No one knows at work and the other people in my life who know (my husband and mom) are thin and always have been. They are supportive, but I think deep down they think it's a drastic step to take and they just can't share my level of excitement. Once I start showing them I can do it then I think they'll share my excitement because their first reaction seems to be fear that something will go wrong. I guess I'm at the point where I'm not fearful at all-I just want to get on with the thin stage of my life (and everything that goes along with that)! Honestly the thing I am most scared about is not being able to drink while I eat (which is a pretty minor thing to be concerned with). Good luck to you! I can't wait to be where you are in this whole process! :)

I don't have date but got a verbal Approval x2 from the insurance company. Lol

Y'all know I had to call the next day just to make sure I wasn't dreaming the first time they said I was approved , could have pinched myself.

But now except for a possible obstacle/back pain

I say it's time to Shop!

Yea for supplies for the hospital stay but

Ill just look at Victoria secret clothing online

A Fantasy if you will. Lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
