Nov. 7th sleevers... Help keep me on track, PLZ!

Recommended Posts

I know that there are a lot of nov 2012 forums but i wanted nov 7th to be specific... i want to know how you are doing two months post op.

as for me I am Always telling myself:

this_too_shall_pass.jpg

But it feels like everyday is an easier day for me and this is not what i want, i still have the restriction when it comes to my stomach but the thing is that i am making bad food choices.

Since i live in the middle east, i do eat bread, Pasta and rice only in small quantities but i feel so guilty after i do so. I eat a lot of yogurt and meats too but the thing i feel that rests best in my stomach and doesn't make me nauseous is spreading some cheese on a small peace of pita bread and eating it with half a cucumber! Again with carbs.

The days i dont eat carbs and try to only eat Proteins i throw up every bite i have...actually, i do throw up a lot. No, i dont over eat but my problem can be eating somewhat fast.

My doctor doesn't mind the carbs, he says as long as it is helping me eat and keep the Proteins its ok to have carbs (sometimes i eat about 80 grams of carbs a day). i am devastated!

I am two months post op and i have lost 43 pounds so far, which is great right? well, i dont think it is enough.

I started at 230 lbs day of op

And now am 187.3 (weighed in yesterday)

Tomorrow i will go back to liquids for at least 3 days, just Water, tea and juice) maybe i can cut out the carbs after that and eat proteins only.

I just need encouragement and maybe if i see where everyone is two months post op, i can get some relief.

Sorry for the long post but i needed to vent since only my fam know about the op and they are currently in america. My husband also knows of the surgery but he is also depressed for me he keeps saying that he misses having me eat and not feel tired and ill after. (i dont blame him) so now i try not to pull him into my worries he has enough to worry about.

Now I am 207 and I strictly stay away from carbs. So Good for you... As long as you are still losing you are ok! God Luck and enjoy youth weightloss success :)

PS: I can't wait to be under 200... My aim is to be under 195 by Valentine's Day ;)

Mine was on Nov 5th and I am also down 40 pounds and it wasn't up until I started eating carbs that I started losing weight steady. I told my NUT and doctor this and they told me the same as yours.

We are doing great don't be frustrated just try to cut back a little on carbs I don't do more than 30gm a day and see if that works for you.

I was sleeved on the 6th Novrmber. Down 50lbs. Your weight loss is fantastic for a low BMI!! I dont think you need to change a thing!! Maybe re-evaluate after you go through a stall? I also have no restrictions on carbs. I do try to keep them low but I often have bread or Cereal for Breakfast. Cutting them out completely is setting yourself up for long term failure in maintenance stage :)

So glad to know am not alone in needing carbs for weight loss... i already started this morning from scratch am back to the liquid diet for 3 days because i was told that it will help me not crave more carbs and give me more restriction.

40 POUNDS is great, when i hear someone saying they lost 40 pounds in two month i think :"OH how great and how lucky" i give people credit that i forget to give to myself. thank you for making me realize that. Good luck on your journey and keep me updated with your weight loss <3

Wow 50 pounds :) such an accomplishment... cutting out carbs for good is no way an option for me, the lifestyle here revolves around carbs, and i want to feel normal (as normal as i can be). Looking at all the comments i can find that there is a rate for the weight loss 2 months=40+ pounds. We are doing Great. Now am more confident with my weight loss and diet <3 thank you for your reply and good luck with the weight loss, keep us updated.

No way can I cut out carbs! I won't be successful and I don't want to live my life in diet mode. I'm not middle eastern but I love the food and even shop at a middle eastern grocery store. Pita is an everyday thing for me. Now I can only eat 1/4 of one! I too have lost 40 pounds!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
