This sounds soooooo dumb....but.....

Recommended Posts

Okay so I have my second fill tomorrow and I've wondered for the last month and a half if it's seriously something psychological that causes a person(well...me)....to kind of crave the lodging feeling....not necessarily the PBing but just the stuck feeling so that I know that the band is tight enough. I know it sounds so dumb but there are some days when I can eat way more than I've been used to for the last 3 months and then I freak out because I wonder if I've stretched my pouch or something.

I dunno....is this normal? I know that it will pass....I think it's just the fear that I CAN'T fail at this so I need to know that it's working.

Anyhow just needed to vent....good night all.

Nope. Not dumb. The first time I was completely unfilled, it terrified me and I seriously preferred the restricted feeling.

oh yeah, completely normal.

If it's not, than the 3 of us are merely crazed in the same way.

It's like a double edged sword. Ya wanna "feel it"....then when you do....it's like, "dammmmmmit, there it is!"

I had my second fill on Tuesday. I have never felt restriction before until this one. I have felt tight but nothing like this. I can definetly see a difference in the decreased amount of food I can eat now. I like it.

Personally, if I go for a few days without a tight feeling, I begin to wonder if something has happened to my band. I think that's a normal feeling, although, I prefer not to pb.

Generally, if I don't chew quite as well, my band will let me know really quick it's still here, LOL.

Add me to the count!!! It is reassuring to know occasionally that it is in there and doing it's job. Now I should know that simply by my lack of hunger, but that whoops shouldn't have had that bite tells me it is on the job!!!

Are we all nuts???

Tightness varies from one day to another. Sometimes the band area gets irritated and swollen, which makes it difficult to eat. Also the saline solution can pass through ( thats what Drs. told me) and make the band looser. I am not sure about that. But my band has its days, just like a person, some days you eat easier than others.

My band is fickle also. For the most part my restriction is there......but sometimes in the evening I can eat way more than I should be able to. I know this and then have to fight the temptation of overeating just because my band will allow me to.

This is where things like SF Jello instant Desserts are very helpful to me. Or my yogurt at night to take pre-bedtime medicines. You're right. It's tougher in the evening.

time2live, we have around the same amount of weight to lose and were banded within days of each other!!:biggrin1:

Thanks for posting this because I thought I was the only one who felt this way, and I've been hiding it because I thought I was crazy.

Thank God this means I'm normal then. I was too embarrassed to mention it to the doctor because I didn't want him to think I was weird or something when he's just met me.

Thanks for the input...I feel so much better now.

...you mean that kind of erotic sensation carefully walking that delicate balance between 'too much' and 'not enough'....that 'just right' amount of control proper restriction brings...that confidence MASSIVEUNCONTOLABLESLAVISHHUNGERDAYLONGNIGHTLONGeatEatEATDRAGON....

is that what you were talking about?

Why....no......I haven't heard of it......

...really.......:)

ROFL! That was great and I needed the laugh. :pound:Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
