I have never had an issue with depression before, but woke up on Day 1 sore, tired and depressed. I know this is the right step for me, but wasn't expecting this reaction. Anyone else dealing with it?

Ok I keep looking at this and waiting for someone to reply... And so far no one ??

Your stuck with me ;)

It sounds like you just had the surgery.. The one thing that caught me by surprise is that it was such a painful experience and I had plenty of days wondering if I made the right move. I was really down for a couple if days. After about 3 weeks I felt like me again and that I was able to function normally.

I guess what I'm say is hang on there it gets better :)

You're not alone. I'm only 2 days post op, barely got home today and this unexplainable sadness came over me. Hopefully as time passes buy and our scars heal, our mental scars will heal as well.

I was very sad in the beginning. And some days still three months out. But it does get easier. Be strong!

Thanks. Each day is getting better, and I have only felt a case or two of the blues since. Think it was just waking up to such a culture shock, and because I woke up early, my wife wasn't there yet, no one was online to chat with, etc.

Wait a bit, but if you're still having problems, ask your PCP about Xanax short term. It can be a lifesaver. I started with that several years ago and ended up needing a long term solution so I switched to Celexa. It was shocking to me that a pill of any sort could so drastically reduce my sadness, anxiety, and fear.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
