Yes definitely. Its so hard I've always been so independent and being a single mom kinda puts u in the rapid healing mode. Lol.

Yeah, moms are not allowed to get sick or slow down for any reason. The earth would absolutey stand still! :)

How long were you in hospital?

Not sure who you were asking, but I'll answer anyway. :) I was in the hospital for two days - surgery on a Thursday and went home Saturday.

That was a quick turn-around. I'm glad the program I went through plans for two nights. I don't think I would have been anywhere near ready after just one day. How long was your surgery?

That's cool. Mine was supposed to be about 2 hours and 15 minutes. It ended up lasting a little over 4 hours. The surgeon had trouble with scars from the lapband he had to take out. I was kind of in sucks-to-be-me-ville for a while. :P I'm glad that's over with.

Oh. WOW! How long did u have the lap band?

For almost five years. I actually had two of them. I had an erosion with the first and it had to be removed less than a year after it was put in and then the second one I had to have a port revision after 2 years and then it slipped and it had to be removed. So, I opted to get the sleeve when they removed the band. I'd have to say I did not have very good luck with lapband. While it was working it was good, but I guess that wan't meant to be for me in the long run.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
