Caffeine Quiz...test your smarts

I thought I knew my favorite drug of abuse but they got me a few times. 53%! Pathetic! I must say in my defense that I just answered anything a couple times just to see the answer.

What's your percentage?

I had a disappointing 62. I am most surprised that the survey days caffeine does not have a diuretic effect on regular users and it did not mention Calcium leaching.

I got a 71....but their definition of addictive substance must be different than mine. Any substance that allows you to build up a tolerance so you need more, then gives you physical withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it sounds like an addictive substance to me. The coffee lobbyists in Washington must have paid a pretty penny to keep their product off of the "addictive substances" list.

I missed that one too. I thought that since most people actually have withdrawal headaches when they quit caffeine cold turkey, that it would fall under the classification of addictive.

Very deceptive the way they say it isn't addictive "in moderation". Alcohol, pain pills and so on are not addictive "in moderation" either but they can be very addictive. To me there is an easy test, try not using it for a week... coffee, tea, soda, chocolate... everything. If your not bouncing off the walls wanting it then I guess you're okay. Does everyone remember the 10-day pre-surgery diet? That's where we find out how addicted to foods we are. :-)

I keep it down to 1-2 cups a day. I drink Organo Gold which is an instant with Ganoderma (or Reishi) mushrooms in it. It has caffeine but less than a quadrupal expresso. It makes me feel good and flash the prettiest colors. (kidding).

I've stayed off the coffee for weeks many times without any hangovers. If something is only lethal if you drink 85 cups at once it doesn't appear to be much of a threat. Of course 85 cups of anything would kill a sleever, probably at about 10 cups. :(

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
