Melb / Vic Bandsters - Christmas Picnic

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I thought it would be a great idea to have a family picnic before Christmas :clap2: . I have made the following plans as a suggestion, however if there is outcry of people who can't make it, then we could reconsider different dates / venue etc.

Sunday 3rd December

Braeside Park, Braeside

Telford Picnic Area (see link to map below)

11am - for bike ride / walk

1pm - for lunch:hungry:

BYO everything

Rubbish must be taken home with you.

This picnic area has a huge adventure playground for the kiddies, and a large grassed area for picnics / games. Plenty of shaded areas, tables and some electric BBQs also. The park gets busy at this time of year, so I will organise to have some helium balloons so that everyone can find us. We'll try to find a nice spot near some shade and the playground, or else will set up our gazebo on the grass.

Park info:

http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/1park_display.cfm?park=71

Park Visitor guide (includes park map):

http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/resources05/05_0293.pdf

If the day is rained out, I will organise an alternative venue nearby to the park. I will post these arrangements the day before.

I am sure that accomodation (for country bandsters) & transport could be arranged amongst ourselves if needed.

Please RSVP to this thread, and feel free to post the announcement to other band forums (Yahoo, ESV etc). I will also post to band2gether.net.

Hope to see as many of us as possible at the picnic!

Cheers,

Anna.

Sadly I know for sure I cant make it now. Doug's work function is on that day. I may not even be able to do my 10km run that I've been training so hard for.

I've looked everywhere I can think of, but I've never seen a definition of BUMP, BUMPING. Please, :help: :hail: oh please, tell me what it means!

Thanks,

Jo Ann

Bumping is when someone makes a post into an old thread to move it back up to the top of the new posts listings, and back up to the top of the index pages. It's sometimes used when you want to obtain further input to a thread that's gone quiet, or like I did to promote an event.

While I'm here - any more takers???

Sorry you can't make it Mark. See you before Christmas anyway...

Okay, so far I've got myself, tarajane and shaky on the list for Saturday. Looks like it's going to be great weather.

Jenny and tolmc are you going to be able to make it? Anyone else??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
