Increased Restriction

Recommended Posts

I Thought once before I read something about your restriction increasing after 1st month. I'm about 4 weeks out and last two days have been much harder to eat then any other time. I understand dense food but I was eating the same way all last week with way less problems.

Anyone have this?

For me, after 8 months, my restriction changes. Some days I am a bottomless pit and others I can barely eat. I think it has to do with my hormones. The physical restriction is part of it, but I think that there is a mental component as well. I also find the restriction increases throughout the day. I have some personal theories...that a day or two of over indulging stretches things a bit and a day or 2 of back to basic decreases my appetite and increases satiety. For instance over the holidays I ate and ate...by comparison to a year ago, I barely ate but for post sleeve me...I just kept shoving bites in. Now I have been on a mental cleanse, drinking shakes and going back to the basics. I now feel full so much faster and stay satiated for hours. I can't really explain it. But variation for me has become the norm.

At 5 months it seemed my restriction increased. Doc said it was the nerves healing and I could now really tell if I was taking in too much. That's why he wants us to religiously weigh/measure our food for the first 6 months.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
