Motivate me....Pleeease!

Recommended Posts

I'm one month and two days band to sleeve revision and down 37 pounds. I feel great!

Here is my dilemma...... I CANNOT get motivated to get my arse to the gym. I joined PF which is a real nice, clean facility but I can't seem to get there. I know exercising is critical and will enhance my weight loss as well as build muscle. I just can't get into it. Can someone share with me how I can get motivated. I have a bad back but that's not my excuse.. I'm just too damn lazy. Thanks for your input and appreciate the help!

Eric

I was sleeved one month and 2 days ago too! I started walking week 3 on the treadmill. I gave myself a "talking to" and just told myself that I have invested too much money, time and life being fat and I am going to put as much energy into exercising as I did in eating. I told myself that this was a NO if, ands or butts issue! I will work out 5 times a week at 30 mins. Maybe being the "bad cop" to yourself is what you need. But give yourself credit for making the decision to become a new healthier version of you.

Think of your surgery as your "graduation day".

When you graduated from school - did you know how to precisely handle your current job?

Probably not, your degree was just a springboard to get your hired.

Your practical education most likely came from on-the-job training and hands on activity.

Think of working out, logging food journals, and building muscles as your on-the-job training.... Now get it moving - You've got work to do!

These new habits of yours are for a lifetime, not a few months. You are one month out so that means you are one weekish into puréed foods. Lots have new things have been thrown your way over the last month.

Just you reaching out and saying "help" shows you are on the right track. Most people's minds fight them before they get to the gym but once we get going I sure do like it.

When I got going on my exercise my mind would tell me "oh you're too tired, oh you don't feel good". Well I forced myself to go and each time I felt FABULOUS when I got there and got going. Finally my mind stopped messing with me and now I know, regardless if I want to go or if I feel low energy, I now KNOW, without a shadow of doubt I will feel better. I am so thankful my mind got out of the equation and I just go.

Do you have a friend to drag your a** to whatever PF is? When you walk in do you know what your plan is? Are you going to ride the bike or?

Be careful of your back, I overdue sometimes and then I reinjure myself and have to slow down or stop..

I hope something I wrote helps. :-D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
