ShyV. 32 Posted January 9, 2013 How do you know if you have a leak? I'm 3 weeks out and have been feeling great but today all the sudden I have pain ( like sourness) in the lower left quadrant, around where my two of my largest incisions are. I'm terrified. allnewme 262 Posted January 9, 2013 I have never had one but I have read that one sign of a leak is left shoulder pain, caused from the leak putting pressure on something. Also vomiting and fever. If the pain is still there tomorrow call your surgeon.
juny 93 Posted January 9, 2013 There's a range of symptoms, in the book the doc's office gave me: it can include flu like symptoms including a fever and increased heart/respiratory rate. Only a doctor can diagnose a leak. Soreness may just be a result of them jabbing your midsection with a poker....no forum takes the place of a real diagnosis, if you're worried call your dr's office asap
lilbearzmom 584 Posted January 9, 2013 Could be your internal stitches dissolving. The NP at my surgeon's office warned me that a few weeks post-op some people have pain, sometimes severe. It is apparently normal. Call them and let them know, though. Doesn't sound like a leak, though. -Kendra
