DeLarla 22 Posted August 12, 2004 When alcoholics get sober, they eat candy and goodies like it's going out of style. It's another form of sugar that helps feed their addiction. Can't that hold true for popcorn once giving up sugar, since it's a carb that converts to sugar in another form? Hahah, listen to me act as if I know what I'm talking about! Rueann16 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Hey Kyleigh, Thanks for recommending this site to me. It really has helped. Concerning corn though... My sheet says no celery, asparagus or corn. The nurse said they all contain too much Fiber and are hard to digest. But if it's working for other people... I just don't know.
DeLarla 22 Posted August 23, 2004 Celery, corn & asparagus are some of my favorites... I don't have any trouble digesting. Although I peel the string off the celery.

Robin, I don't see why anything should be avoided because it's "hard to digest," since with banding there's nothing changed about the way we digest food. I think you may have been given something written for RNY patients, or at least adapted from such. Fibrous foods can present problems going down, sure, but if they do go down (such as at a time of little restriction) there's no reason not to eat them. leatha_g 4 Posted August 23, 2004 Trial and error. Green peas were one of my first 'hard stop' foods. Fresh pineapple wound up stopping me in my tracks too. I've eaten asparagus, but I'd recommend you cut into very small pieces. Things change as you get filled.

edistogirl2602 0 Posted August 24, 2004 I am so glad to hear that I can still enjoy popcorn at the movies. It's one of my favorite things. But, I must say, I would rather go hungry than eat carrots or celery. Yuck, yuck, yuck! But you guys go on with your rabbit food .
Rebeccalee 2 Posted August 24, 2004 We got some freshly picked corn at a farm stand. Last night I had half an ear for dinner, then half an ear for a snack later. Today I ate a whole ear and had a tummy ache. Ouch! (That would be my big, lower belly.) Of course, I have a mild allergy to corn, but it seems to affect me more now that I eat less. I've tried popcorn and the skins feel like they stick in my throat -- nowhere near my band. My throat is fairly sensitive. So I gave it up for fear of getting stuck or irritated. I'm still gonna eat corn!
