Thoughts on apples..... Natural sugar is 28 grams....

Recommended Posts

Apples are an excellant fruit. I watch my Protein only and not sugar count. To me the benefits of the apple are better then a sugar count. I wouldn't worry as our diets are by nature low sugar.

I have no problem with including apples in my diet. I'd rather have the natural sugar and the overall benefits that fruit provide my body.

I love love love apples! I have been eating one of the single serve packs from wal mart every day for about 3 months, my only problem is that I am eating them with one of the Jif single serve reduced fat packs. I think I'm addicted!

Soooo I am focusing on carbs and fat and not so much natural sugar?? Just as long as I don't eat regular added sugar... Right now I'm looking at everything!!

I have trouble eating apples and applesauce. They're too acidic and don't feel good. I'm 4 weeks post op. Hopefully it'll get better. I miss fruit. Gonna try an orange tomorrow.

I eat 1/2 an apple cut into thin slices and dip it into my fruit dip (plain greek yogurt mixed with cinnamon, PB2 and a splenda packet).

One of my favorite Snacks is a 1/2 apple and slice of (Tillamook) cheddar cheese... yummy!

I don't focus on Natural sugars at all. I do count sugars in other foods. Like my Protein Shakes, boxed food items.

Apples contain enough Fiber to offset the sugar contained in them. It's one of the better fruit options.

Apples = good

Apple juice = bad

I eat an apple a day. It keeps the doctor away. ;) seriously though i usually have one a day. I think there benefits out way the sugar content. They are healthy and have a good amount of Fiber to regulate that sugar. :))

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
