I don't know what your recipe is, but I'd leave the Mayonnaise and/or sour cream out and replace it with plain nonfat Greek yogurt. Lower calorie and more Protein in it.

Otherwise it's fine for mushy stage.

The general rule is that mushies can be mashed up with the back of your fork. It does have a lot of fat in it and sometimes people have trouble with that right after surgery. You may want to try some at home before eating it at the restaurant or you could be running for the bathroom.

My post op instructions said no shellfish for 2 months (it may have been 3 months can't remember). I never did ask why, so I have no idea why to avoid.

Crab with a little fat free mayo or yogurt was a staple when I was in pureed stage (check the nutritional content on any packaged foods). I used my emersion blender to really make sure it was chopped enough. When I moved on to soft foods I made a "crab cake" with crab meat, an egg, some onion & seasoning, sprayed some pam on the pan and browned it slightly. It was delicious You can make a little dip out of plain greek yogurt and old bay

That crab cake with yogurt sauce sounds really good JerseyGirl68, I'll have to give that a try sometime!

I still eat my version of "seafood salad" which is crab, baby shrimp, diced celery & onion with a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese mashed into it. I can eat it plain & I use all different flavors of the cheese depending on my mood. :)

That is a great idea! Most recipes call for cream cheese and that is a better and tastier way to do it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
