Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Kat - on your 30 year old "kid" - next year - just ask her what she is bringing - pointedly. She will get the message. It's past time for her to step up.... :] Oh - and we don't cater too much to picky eaters at my house. If you don't like it - don't eat it. Amazingly enough - folks always seem to find something they can tolerate. :] Oh - and the poundage in the signature is the "Official" weight as of my last doctor's visit. I will change that when I go to see him again next month.

Jules - glad to hear I am not the only one who doesn't know about Chess Pie. Hope you are having a great day!

Mandy - non-alcoholic wine is about the same thing as decaffinated coffee. I guess they can suck the alcohol out of anything.... I will have to try the pork thing. We are big into pork at my house.

Chrispy - Calzones? I want some! What a great non-traditional feast food. Do you put meat in them? Do tell. It's all about food porn today, anyway, isn't it? I mean Geez. We have already read about Caremel Pecan pie... how much more hungry can I get? :]

Eileenie - cute card! Have fun cooking.

Just in case I somehow don't get back here before Friday - HUGE hugs and much love to all of you - I will be thinking of you as I take my two bites of stuffing every 15 minutes.

Hugs & Love

Irene

Well I went to the Dr. yesterday. I'm down 4 pounds in 4 weeks according to his scale! We talked for a while and he has referred me to a PS for a reduction. He said it will help my back pain and everything else. He said the insurance shouldn't give me a hard time at all. So on the 18th I go meet with the surgeon. I will go for a consult with another one he referred me to also. He said there are only 2 in Charlotte that he would recommend. The one is about 6 miles from my house so that is the one I have an appointment with not he 18th. I have mixed feeling but I know I really need to take care of this!

Mommom just goes and goes! I'm an old lady compared to her..urgh..did I tell you guys about our Water main breaking! We have had a horrible storm her yesterday and today so the plumber won't be able to come until Monday. I just hope and pray that the contraption that DH made holds out until then!

Well Have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow. I'm not sure if I will be able to drop in here so I want you all to know I'm thankful to each and every one of you. I know I haven't done a personal to all of you, but I'm thinking of you...Gobble gobble..

Cassandra-Welcome to Bandland! Please call your Dr. Keep walking and rest.

Betty-I'm with you on the shopping, although I've never done it before, I have no desire to do it. The head stuff does stink! Maybe someday we can figure out how to change that!

Kat-She is really a lot of fun and so helpful. She does stuff when she feels awake enough. She's chopped all the onions made chicken salad, she's making pea Soup today, she is amazing. My MIL is coming today she is 79 and so helpless. They are like night and day! It is going to be interesting. Lucy is a blast! she just makes us smile and laugh all the time. Right now her and Sandy are playing they are so cute. I can't believe you have all your cards done already!!!

Chrispy-Enjoy your non cooling break!!

Eileen-That was cute!

Jules-I have never done cheese cake. My sister once won a contest for here's being so good.

Beanie-I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to see you ticker changed

Bean I make two different types of calzones. Spinach & cheese (with lots of garlic) and Italian meat (salami, capicola, pepperoni & cheese). I probably won't really be able to eat much of the calzone, but since my mom is banded we are going to have plenty of foods we can eat. She is making sweedish meatballs, cheese & crackers, scallops in bacon and shrimp cocktail for us. I am going to just eat one small plate of appetizers because later that afternoon I will be heading over to my friend's house and I'll have a small dinner plate of turkey & sausage stuffing (my favorite!!). My mom will cook a turkey on Friday, and I've already put dibs on the carcass so I can make a Soup. Yummy!!

Kat I've been cooking Christmas dinner for my family since I was 26. Luckily for my mom I have a big mouth and make sure to tell my sisters what to bring and then after dinner I make them do the dishes. Hey - I cooked and Mom deserves a break, right? lol

Hello Everyone, My pumpkin pie is in the oven as I type. I also need to run and make my son's favorite chocolate pie and my mom is bring a cheesecake. Plenty of Desserts there.

Turkey dinner:

Wheat rolls

Roasted Turkey

Stuffing

Mashed Potatoes

Mashed Squash

Sweet Potatos

corn

green Beans

gravy

I think that's more than enough lol. I'm lucky I'll get 1/4 cup mashed and 2 oz of turkey in before getting full. Tonight we had KFC and I couldn't eat more than 1/3 of a chicken breast and 1/4 cup potatos. TOM is due and making everything tight again...dang TOM lol Suppose it's kind of a good thing so I don't over due Thanksgiving or Christmas...yeap it's gonna land there too UGH.

Soooo DH had to go to NY to move his Brother and family down here. They have a new apartment about 1.5 miles from our home. We'll help them the best we can to get a head start on things here. DH already hooked his brother up with his boss and his boss hired him full-time for 3-4 months. Poor DH has to drive 6 hours to NY pack it all up then drive back all within 24 hours. He's not looking forward to it but, wants to do that so he can relax the rest of the weekend. It worries me...that's alot of driving :)

DS got an great report card. Couple B's, Couple b+s, and some A's :( He starts his job on Friday.

Well....next week we're meeting at work to plan my move to Account Manager and the training for my 2 replacements. I've only been asking for this for over 2 months. Yeap...they promoted me 2 months ago and I haven't heard a thing. Unreal! Hopefully it will be planned out next week.

Anyone start Christmas shopping yet? I started to poke around QVC and I bought a present :guess hee hee.....Dooney and Bourke was just calling my name....:paranoid  Ohhhh hhhhhhhhoooney, see what you bought me for Christmas hahaha Nah I figured it's a prize I get for getting promoted hahaha Any excuse right goils? hee hee I've actually only picked up a few things so far. DH and I have been so caught up in helping BIL, SIL and baby that we haven't had time. Poor DH has put some of his weight back on too because of the stress. ;) We'll do better after they are settled and we're going to the gym regularly and have some privacy.

Country dancing was a blast again with Chrispy. I just crack up when I lose my place so I just giggy with it until I catch up hahaha. Tush pushin, blue rosen, bosa nova'in, stompin you name it we were doing it last night. My feet were pooped. A few shots of Tequila and I'll be on the dancefloor no problemo hahaha.

Well, I better get going on the chocolate pie. Not sure I'll get back here tomorrow so.....

Happy Thanksgiving to my LBT family. I wish you all things good and may you have plenty of family and friends surrounding you and making you smile just like you do me. God bless you all and keep you happy, safe and healthy.

gobble gobble do and gobble gobble dap, I'll eat that turkey and take a nap.......

Giving Thanks for all my LBT Friends! Happy Thanksgiving!

I made the Buttermilk Chess Pie first...it is simple. Sugar, a little flour, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, nutmeg...pour it in the crust. It is a Southern thang, ya'll. I bet Paula Dean has a recipe for one, but I haven't checked.

Then, the pumpkin pie...then the roast turkey...then DH fried the other turkey. Zippidee doo dah! We are done!

Everyone's feasts sound so delicious!

Eileen, I hope you feel better, and DD, too!

I hope everyone survives their families...even better, I hope everyone actually enjoys their families!!! LOL!

Let's all take the time to count our blessings....love to each and every one of you!

Cindy

We are frying the turkey, and one for a friend. I made the deviled eggs tonight while DH peeled and chopped the potatos for the mashed, they are boiled and ready to be finished tomorrow. I have several cans of cranberry sauce in the fridge and several bags of frozen veggies ready to go. My mom is making sweet potato casserole, and pie. My sister is making ham and green ban casserol. I only have to cook the veggies, mash the taters, and heat the premade pies that I bought. There are going to be 13 of us tomorrow, I'm glad it's almost over. I also have my tree up and decorated tonight. I will post pics sometime this weekend, Abi helped decorate it and it looks really pretty and fun. I think I mentioned the second rash she had developed. It's eczema, and it's a bad case. She is on a steroid cream and several applications of body cream a day until it's all cleared up. Then we have to continue the body cream all winter. Poor baby the treatment for the pox has made her skin so dry and sore, she is misarable, but getting better fast. I will check in tomorrow after everyone leaves. Happy Turkey day all. ~Mandy

Mandy, I'm up later than you!

I have no idea why I'm up so late...just hanging out and playing Pogo, mostly. Dh And DD are in bed, and I like having the house to myself.

We're having 13 for T-day dinner, too...but over at my sister's house. We are trying to get our living area back together, in case DH's brother and new girlfriend come over here tomorrow, but c'est la vie...they'll have to get over it! It looks okay, but not House Beautiful okay. Like it ever has....it IS pretty good, but lots of things are still in the garage. It takes so long when you have to clean each and every piece of furniture, picture, etc.

Sorry for Abi's eczema...thank goodness kids put up with this stuff better than we do. Still, I know she is tired of all of it!

Talk to ya'll later on tomorrow, C.

:hungry: HAPPY THANKSGIVING :hungry:

O Lord, with humble hearts we pray

Thy blessing this Thanksgiving Day

And ask that at table place,

Where grateful folk say words of grace,

That Thou will come to share the yield

Thy bounty gave to farm and field.

We pray thy love will bless, O Lord,

Each hearth, each home, each festive board;

And that Thy peace will come to stay

Where candles glow, Thanksgiving Day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
