In August of 2011, I was kicked off a ride at Six Flags for being too fat. As I walked down the ramp and saw my two year old son waiting at the bottom of it I decided that I couldn't live this way anymore and I just had to bite the bullet and look into surgery. It took me eight months to get it, the military is very thorough with their testing. In April 2012 I had my surgery. It's been a very rough road for me, I've had issues with nausea and losing weight too fast. I had my gall bladder removed because of the rapid weight loss. I was diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety (I work in a very violent city as a 911 Emt ). Since I couldn't "eat my feelings" I started manifesting the signs and symptoms. I pretty much kicked my sisters out of my life, they became petty and jealous once the weight started dropping off. My mother constantly tries to sabotage me. If it wasn't for my awesome hubby, great friends and the grace of God, I don't think I've could've done it. I've lost 110 pounds, went from a 24 to a comfy 8/10. Despite my issues, I've never been happier.

One question.. By looking at your before and after, it doesn't look like you had a problem with extra skin.

Oh I do have a problem with extra skin! Every time I run my upper arms clap for me. Sounds like a standing ovation ! I have loose skin everywhere. My upper tummy droops a bit (in the pic I have my pants pulled up over it. Shhhh...) granted, it was pretty droopy before surgery due to my vertical c-section.

You look fabulous. The hell with your family, you chose your husband and friends, keep them! My sisters were always jeolous of me and now they do not talk to me anymore and my mom died two years ago, so no more worries there. I also take paxil for panic disorder, you might want to look into that kind of help for the ptsd. Congrats on your success and good luck in the rest of your journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
