9 months out....slow loser

Recommended Posts

I'm trying not to have a pity here be dang! I've been a slow loser from the beginning and have stalled several times for weeks at a time. Just frustrated! I have only lost 60 lbs IN 9 MONTHS. I see everyone else having such success. I'm giving it one more shot with working out and Protein and Water and all the right things, if nothing happens this time maybe this is the size I'm suppose to be.

Sleeved 3April 2012 and loss is 70lb. I know it is hard when you look at some postings on here and see the weight just drop off people in a short time but most of the time you do not know the full story.

I know my loss is slow but I am OK with that (it took more than 9 months to go on) and I am eating in a normal pattern (just less), eat out and have treats. I have joined a gym and my shape is changing.

When I started this journey I thought it would take me 1 year to lose the weight (100lb) but now I think it will take 15 months.

I find it hard to get all my Water in and I don't think this helps with the rate of loss. Give it one more big push, Protein first the veg then carbs, drink and exercise and see how it goes. Good luck.

Baseballmom, I think I have finally broke my stall! For the past week I have been working out, sometimes twice a day making sure that I burn at least 700 or more calories. I'll go from treadmill to circuit to the elliptical to insanity!!! In addition I'm having a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch and fish for dinner and a salad if I have room. Oh and I'm drinking way more Water. I'm now down to 207 hoping to onederland very soon!!! Good luck hope this helps!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
