I was sleeved on 12/21 and I can't seem to eat much. This morning I was barely able to eat half a poached egg. I'm trying very hard to get in my liquids but the Water makes me nauscious (sp.?). Hot tea with lemon goes down pretty well but I can't drink too much tea cause I get kidney stones. I am going to try just hot lemon water next. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions. I can choke down a protien shake every now and then but its tough. Help.

If warm liquids are going down easier, try heating your milk with a Protein Shake and drink it like hot cocoa. Also try unjury chicken Soup, I found it went down much easier than a shake.

Good luck !

Half a poached egg is a very reasonable amount to be eating for a meal right now. Im 4 1/2 months out and my NUT still recommends 1/2 of an egg for Breakfast. Focus on liquids... Sip sip sip. If you like hot tea- try drinking water/crystal light at room temperature, or even slightly warm.

Eventually, you will be able to eat!

It's most important to get in all of your fluids. If your tummy likes warm, put your Protein in warm broth. Make your Protein Drink like a hot chocolate, Warm, diluted apple juice? Sip,sip, sip!

It may be too early to eat poached eggs. My surgeon gave us diets of liquids for the first 3 weeks, then pureed for 3 weeks, soft foods for 3 weeks and then what every my stomach would tolerate. Your stomach is very swollen still from the trauma of the incision site so it's time to be patient and baby the tiny stomach now. Drink a lot of fluids and try getting some Protein Shakes in. Don't worry about the quanity. Your doing great..... :)

Thinned down hot Cereal made with lactaid is perfect for the stage you are at. I loved cream of wheat and malt-o-meal. I also made chicken broth and beef consomme and had that for lunch (at least it has protein). How about herbal teas, do you like them at all? I agree about making warm chocolate milk with your Protein Powder.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
