I know Im gonna set myself up for lectures etc but here it goes. January 9th will be 4 weeks post op for me. I would like to give you my typical day.....breakfast maybe half a yogurt, lunch three to four bites Soup, supper 5-6 bites mashed potatoes....add some fruit juice during day maybe 6 oz...and maybe 6-8 oz Water. I am not dehydrated and not hungry. I know if you figure out Protein h2o and calories I am eating like an infant so what do I do???? Also when can I try few bites pizza topping or few bites spaghetti or few bites ham and cheese roll up???

You are not eating according to the instructions I was given. Protein first, followed by low carb/green veggies. So, I don't know if you are cleared for all foods but I think that the Soup, mashed potatoes and fruit juice are all pretty high carb and don't add enough Protein.< /p>

When does your surgeon clear you for deli meat etc? I was able to have non stringy deli meat and cheese pretty early on - certainly by 4 weeks. I could also have ground beef pretty early.

You definitely need to be getting more Protein in or you're gonna stall. YOU ALSO NEED TO HYDRATE or else you could have issues. 64oz right?

What about your Protein shakes? When you wake up in the morning, commit yourself to drinking one. That's at least 20 grams right there. Or find the Atkins light or muscle milk light boxes so you don't even have to make one. just grab and go.

Mashed potatoes are carbs, what about pureed tuna or pureed chicken salad? Also chili is an excellent option if it's made with lean ground beef or turkey and some kidney Beans. You can also puree that if you're still eating pureed.

My 4th week, that I started today, I'm allowed to have thin lunch meat like turkey and ham (my tummy did not like ham... might be the fatty stringyness) and light soft cheese. You can also try talapia and tuna. Egg whites are a good option as well. Fat free cottage cheese is also my go to item. 13 grams for 1/2 a cup. Skim milk is good for liquids and I think about 8 grams of Protein. You can make Soups with milk or lactaid milk too.

Did your NUT or doctor give you a list of foods to try out for each stage? You need to stick to the plan you were given!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
