Congratulations! I was sleeved on 12/31. My vitals were good, blood sugar was really high, everything else was OK. You are doing good because I didn't want to go online, text, or even talk on the phone after surgery. I slept, walked after 4 hours, and then every hour or two. Hang in there!

Congrats on the sleeve!! My vitals were always normal. Make sure you walk as much as possible, it really helps move the gas. I would take a nap, get up and walk, read, take a nap, and back to walking...

Good luck!!

Keep your pain under control. Get meds for nausea if needed too. Walk as much as possible. My blood pressure was up only when I let myself get painful.

Like jwhite692 said, I too wish I was feeling good enough to type after surgery. I was in considerable pain and the morphine drip I had didn't do much to relieve the gas pressure. My blood pressure was running up in the 190/102 level for the day and my blood sugar was 158 (even though I hadn't eaten anything for more than 24 hours). But it was all back to normal by the 2nd day after surgery.

I didn't want to but I did get up and walk the halls every 2 hours. It did make me feel better. Good luck with your recovery.

Update: going home today. No complications. Taking liquids slow and fine. No nausea. A tad of gas but not killing me. Leak test done and passed. Main issue is incision pain still but that will improve. I try to walk once an hour and practice deep breaths. Still in shock i did this but now it is time to work with it. Had a little break down yesterday, i was a bit overwhelmed mixed with incision pain. Cried like a baby. Thanks to all of you for support. :).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
