Nothing Fits!

Recommended Posts

I realize this is a good problem to have, but NOTHING FITS right now. I had to change clothes three times this morning just to be able to go to work. Pants that are 20s are falling off of me and 18s are too snug. Or, maybe I've been swimming in my 20s for so long now that that I'm just not comfortable making the switch to pants that are 18. I've always been a pear even when I wasn't fat so shirts haven't really been an issue.

I wish winter would hurry up and pass so that I can start wearing dresses to work again. They are so much more forgiving and less obvious when they are a bit too big. I can't even use a belt w/ many of my slacks b/c they don't have belt buckles. I'm sitting here now praying that the two safety pins I used to keep my pants up do not snap and poke me.

I changed probably 4 or 5 times. I used to wear big bulky things to hide the fat. I don't want to wear that stuff! I want people to be able to see the waist line I've got going on! I need new shirts at least.

The clothes sizes are one of the best NSV's :). I'm wearing a belt to hold up 16s right now as 14s are too snug. Try Old Navy for 18s, they seem to run a big bigger in the waist.

I blew through clothes myself and it was rough getting rid of everything without enough $ to replace everything I needed.

I have always worn a sleeveless short nightgown all year long. I wore jogging pants a tshirt and sweatshirt and - (shudder) socks to bed recently and finally bought new pj's from Kohls.

The worst part of winter to me is freezing, I am constantly cold.

I was a size 32 or 4x and am in 14s. Someone was kind enough to give me 14 summer clothes, and it was awesome when I went on vacation, but I really could use some winter clothes. I did get a new winter coat, thankfully and someone just gave me some sweaters. I have a pair of 18 pants I can wear that are big with a belt, a 16 that start out okay and end up loose, but it's fine and for now I'm making due because I still have a bit to go.

Everyone needs to be careful buying clothes at first because skipping sizes happens so easily. I bought 1x clothes and never got a chance to wear them because I sort of skipped that size and went right down to a large. It's a good thing, but it's a bit hard when you don't have the money to waste.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
