With so many stories in the news about juicing I wondered if anyone here had any experience with this? I am ten months post surgery and have lost 60 pounds but the weight loss is very slow at this point of time. I have about fifteen more pounds to lose to reach my goal weight. In order to shake things up I've thought about juicing in combination with eating Proteins but I haven't been sure as to whether this would help or potentially harm. Frankly part of my hesitation is the expense of the machine and also you are grinding up a lot of fruits and vegetables to get a little bit of liquid.< /p>

Thanks.

Butter the bean is post op and has been doing some green smoothies and he loves it.

I am preop, and I can say I'm hooked on juicing. I have an Omega 8006 horizontal slow juicer and it is very efficient at everything except carrots. Carrot leave a lot of damp pulp behind but I'm ok with that because carrots are so cheap to begin with and I don't juice a lot of carrots anyway. a 20 ounce portion of mean green takes the following: 1 lemon, 1 apple, 1 cucumber 4 celery ribs, 1 chunk of ginger, 1/2 of a big bunch of greens. For me living in Harrisburg, PA, that works out to 2.50 to 3.00 for a 20 ounce juice It's very nutrient dense and I don't feel l like I'm wasting money.

My juicer rocks and as a plus, I also use it to make banana "ice cream" which is just a frozen banana run through the juicer.. yum. and also almond milk.

My biggest concern is that postop I'm not allowed lemons for a very long time so I guess I'll have to quit juicing while my belly heals (I CAN'T drink it without the lemons, cuz it tastes like lawn clippings when I do)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
