Baton Rouge Area Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

Hey Y'all!

I thought I'd start a thread for the BR area. I know that NOLA has lots of active members, and I'm hoping BR dies, too.

I'm in Prairieville, 43yo, and had surgery with Brent Allain at OLOL hospital on October 15. I'm still finding it hard to believe that it's been almost 3 months since surgery.

I made it through the holidays okay, but I'm worried about being able to resist my beloved cream cheese King Cakes!! :o

Hi, I am from Baton Rouge. I also had my surgery at OLOL, but with Karl Leblanc, I really like him. I had my surgery on 12/4/12. That's funny, because I passed King Cakes in the store recently and thought aww, no king cake for me this year.

Glad to hear from y'all!! I hear good things about Dr. Leblanc, too.

Skinny, who's your surgeon? Ate you getting nervous and excited?!

I live in Kentwood, about 45 mins from BR. I'm sch for Jan 24th at Cypress point in Robert,La. I'm so pumped I can't wait to get this done!!! I'm starting my liquid diet tomorrow. Pre-ops on the 16th. Is there anything you can think of that I may need to know about post-op stuff?

My people are in Alexandria, Bossier City, Monroe, Houma and Natchitoches. Don't think I know anybody in Baton Rouge though.

I knew there was a reason I liked you! ;)

I grew up in Shreveport, and I've lived in Monroe AND Alexandria!

I actually live in Prairieville now and love it.

Yeah, I missed the Christmas lights in Natchitoches the last 2 years...I normally get over there to see them and the fireworks. My uncle has a huge farm up around Winnsboro, if you know where that is. Right across the street from his house is Kix Brooks' house. It's beautiful there but a little too.....conservative.

The Baton Rouge and NOLA areas tend to be more diverse in their views. BR being somewhat of a college town and New Orleans being, well, New Orleans!!! North LA is definitely a different vibe. We do have a beautiful and I retesting state!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
