Recommended Posts

I am having the hardest time getting down my crushed pills- it is soooo gross. I almost said screw it tonight and swallowed them whole but after I thought about it- crushed them and almost vomited trying to swallow them. HELP!!

Hang in there! I am going thru the same thing. Post-Op day 5 and I am having a hard time getting my meds down and liquids. I guess we have to have patience with ourselves(body healing).

Thanks everyone!! I'm not physically having trouble getting them down, they just taste so awful. I've tried Water and now moved to crystal light but that crushed medicine taste is so strong. I'll get through it.

i'm three weeks out and i swallow all of my pills. however, Calcium pills are very difficult, so i stick to the chewables with those. i found that Vitamin c pills make me nauseous

also, what about sprinkling them on some pureed apple sauce or on pudding?

I only take a multi post op and have been taking it as a whole pill after two weeks.

I see so many different comments about the pills. I had my surgery in aug 2012. My doctor said under no circumstance swallow any pills for six months after surgery. If you are swallowing pills you may get lucky and it may pass. But that will not always be the case. It is not a good choice. Everything must be chewable. After I had my sleeve done. I took my medication crushed in fat free pudding just a small spoonful it really helps mask the taste. Don't chance swallowing pills you could really do damage it is not worth it. Drink slow and don drink out of straws sip bottles only less air gets through. Small sips slowly or it will hurt.

If one's doctor says it is alright, it is alright.

After 2 weeks for me too

Swallowing Calcium (biggest tablet lool), Nexium, Multivitamin and B12

I have to take them once a day

So i take 1 pill at the time after 30 or 45 mins from my meal

I try to place them at the end of my tongue vertically, it made it easy for me to swallow

Don't worry u will do a great job

Just listen to ur body

I had my surgery on 9 dec 2012

So far so good

Thanks God

Not sure if you are talking about medication or Vitamins...

I take quite a few medications (although the number is dropping) and was allowed to take them whole once I returned home after surgery. The rule is anything larger than a M&M needs to be cut in half. For a while they always felt like they were stuck in my throat and I hated taking them, but it is getting better. I do get in a lot of my Water washing down medication.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
