How do you not go broke?

...buying clothes to replace the ones that are too big? I was just sleeved 12/17, but I am almost 40 lbs down from my starting weight and my clothes are seriously baggy. My underwear falls down. I guess what I need to do is go through ALL of my clothes in hopes of finding a few things I may have grown out of before. I have no problem going to a thrift store, but we all know how hard it was finding clothes that fit in a place that sells new clothes at our old weight, and thrift stores are so hit-or-miss. Any suggestions?

Embrace the baggy! In all seriousness tho, I did that and took hand me downs from my friends. I bought a few dresses because I hate baggy butt. I know it's cold right now, but I wear leggings and boots.

Now a days I'd rather spend my money on race registration or new running apparel. I still wear baggy clothes. Currently, I own ONE pair of jeans that actually fit.

kendra, I guess I was lucky in that i have a young daughter who loves nice clothes. She started to gain weight and I lost weight, she got my old clothes and i got her small clothes. Shoes work the same way too. The ones that neither of us wanted we donated to goodwill. Clothes exchange is a great thing if you can do that. Good luck!

I gave away THOUSANDS of $$$ in clothing. I started going to Old Navy and other discounted stores for 'interim' clothing. I hate ill-fitting clothes, so I go out and replace as necessary...on sale! Also, try Macy's, they have fabulous sales.

I am still trying to figure out what to do myself. I have two pairs of pants that fit. Everything else is so large it falls off. :X

I'm mostly just replacing my pants a pair at a time. I'm allowing myself to get one pair of work pants or one pair of jeans for every size I go down. The shirts I have are big, but big shirts aren't as much of a problem as big pants are. I find that with a decent belt, I can get extended wear, even if they do look a bit off.

I'm hoping to take some of my clothes in. I haven't done it before, but I have a machine and used to make costumes. I figure I can probably find a tutorial on YouTube. I have some smaller dresses but they're ones I used to wear to Dracula's Ball so not exactly work appropriate. ;)

If you go to your local support group, ask around. People are usually trading clothes, or know where to get them. Also try e-bay.

Goodwill have been awesome for me. Also a couple of other thrift stores have been good. Ebay works good too. I'm a shorts and t-shirt guy anyway. So it doesn't matter that much. I bought a couple of pairs of track pants at Wallyworld that have a drawstring. Wear them to the gym and out and about on the cold days.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
