Well la-de-dah for her...she may have actually been genuinely concerned that you may have problems like her friend, but I think she was tooting her own horn...a little too loudly....and right in your face!! I would feel the same way you do about going to this particular gym. I'd go somewhere else.

I'm sorry, but I wouldn't let anyone's judgemental opinion affect what I do with my life, or where I do it. You don't need anyone's approval to be healthy....and you certainly won't get everyone's approval no matter what gym you go to so who cares? Just stay there and slowly, over time change her opinion of what a sleever can do.

Well I would definitely let that gym know. She needs to keep her private thoughts to herself. It's about getting healthy and that's what your doing. They need to either get on board and support you or keep their judgements and thoughts to themselves.

I have had some one tell me about a friend of a friend getting sick every time she eats, I told him, she probably eats too much and she should really work on that. Lol

So true. No outside endorsements nor approval needed.

We've all lost weight "naturally" at one point in our lives or another. .... I probably would have (in the sweetest voice possible) offered condolence for her friend, told her how fantastic I felt and proceeded to tell her how likely she statistically is to gain all (plus some) of her weight back, and how I hope, for her sake, (and the sake of her livelihood) she's one of the lucky few.

i probably wouldn't have told her, i mean yeah, i wouldn't lie about it to the people in my life, im gonna tell if they ask me.I think she feels all high and mighty that she lost it the natural way. whats so great about the natural way anyway, if you want to ride a bike all the way to Disneyland fine but don't judge me for taking a plane -___-

True, true... Some days it's easy to let things roll off, some days not, but if this were my first contact with a place of business that I planned on spending a good amount of time and money at and I was made to feel badly, I certainly wouldn't want to frequent there. OP can do what she wants, just giving my perspective ^_^

"I am so sorry for your friend. That must be horrible. I don't have that problem at all, thank goodness. Ok - about my exercise program - where do we start?"

It is still A LOT of work. I'd politely set her straight and take advantage of the moment to set her straight.

Well in reading your post her comment was that her friend who had gastric bypass gets sick everytime she eats. How is this statement negative towards you? You could have pleasantly stated how well you are doing yadda' date=' yadda. Maybe this would have lead to conversation about not every patient having a negative experience. Just my two cents.[/quote']

Sometimes it's not what you say it's how you say it.

My two cents is......you told the trainer your personal story as information so she knew you are losing weight fast, loose skin is a concern. A persons 1st time w/ a trainer is intimidating enough, and the gym is sort of overwhelming in the beginning. Your hackles went up cause you were giving her information, her job is to build you up mentally and physically. Athletes know the mind controls part of the success on winning.

What she said is like going to get your teeth cleaned after you have been away for a few years and having your hygienist say, "man I had a friend who stayed away from teeth cleaning, she still bleeds all the time, I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months so I am fine. As a hygienist I would be reprimanded. A professional meets the client where the client is.

God luck, Keep the confidence you are headed for success.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
