One month post op and just dang tired---advice please

Recommended Posts

So Thursday was one month from my surgery. I'm having a hard time getting in my Protein but usually make it pretty close. I'm still doing at least one shake since I can't eat much protein at a time. I have no problem getting in my fluids. I'm taking my Vitamins every day. Is this normal? How do I get more energy? I need an afternoon nap and I feel like I'm just always dragging. Is it winter maybe? Any thoughts/experience will be appreciated.

I was the same way. For the first three months. It was a little frustrating because everyone would post about all this energy they had. Not me though. When I told my surgeon he told me to up my Protein to 75g a day. When I had my blood work he also told me that Vitamins were low and I needed to take double dose of Vitamins, which I don't mind because I take gummy vitamins.

Your body is still adjusting and at about 1 month out I was eating about 500 calories and that's very little calories. So just give yourself time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
