Hi everyone,

I want to ask about post op GERD. I had some problem with this prior to surgery, but if I avoided trigger foods, I would be fine. About 2 weeks after surgery, I started getting really bad reflux on the full liquid diet. I am now on puréed foods and it persists despite the fact I am perfect in taking my Pepcid twice a day. Treating this with Tums but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it will improve with time.

I will discuss it with the doc when I see him in a week, just wanted input. My thanks to all. This site has been wonderful.

I had the same problem after surgery. The first few weeks I had horrible heartburn, but I rarely get it now. With all things, time is your friend.

I had the same problem. My dr switched me to prilosec and now I don't have any issues. Talk to your dr and see if maybe you could switch. It's over the counter and I use the generic. At first I took it twice a day, but now do fine with just once a day. Good luck!
