Hey guys I am beyond worried to the point I called Dr.lisa the nutritionist . I am not drinking much Water. Water is not friend, the only thing I can drink is ice tea! Then food everything had gots to be purée. I can only have 2-3 spoons of purée and I am full. I can't stand chicken or beef. The only thing I like is seafood purée with veggies. I don't know if I am weird. I am used to drinking 96oz or more water per day. I am worried about my kidneys what do I do. It's bad enough I can't stand protien drinks or shakes.< /p>

How far out are you? Not tolerating Water initially is normal. Too much tea can inhibit Iron absorption tho. Could u do mio or crystal light? Could u put beneprotein or some other type in your purée or even your drinks iif u need more Protein?

Stay strong.

You are still healing and may still be swollen. You really need to try and get fluids and Proteins in. Have you tried any Protein Shakes? Can you keep Soup down? They have some Protein. Diet iced tea was on my list of ok things to drink from my doc but lacks protein. Hang in there and try to sip, sip, sip.

I threw away a bunch of the Protein Shakes too. I'm five months out and strong flavors and smells still bother me quite a bit. I like the Bluebonnet Protein powder. I think they are probably quite bland but they work well for me. I still have a hard time getting enough Water. I used to drink mostly when I ate. That's obviously out now.

It gets better pretty fast. Just hang in there. At two weeks out I couldn't even take a quarter cup of anything and I hit a stall while I was still on broth. Very frustrating!

Powerade zero is good and has electrolytes you need. I can't do Protein Drinks for all same reasons. I'm at three weeks out. Diarrhea was a big problem for me too. I now have no problems. I do now prefer bottled Water tepid over ice Water out of my frig filter though. Much easier to get down and tolerate. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
