One of my questions is, when you cook for ur family do they eat what you eat ??? Is it hard to see other people eating a lot more ??

Actually I was disgusted at how much they ate and how quickly. I cook what ever they want but make it more healthy. Not a lot of carbs, more focused on fresh and vegtables. Don't want the family following in my footsteps.

So bring out the cooking godess in you while you stick to VSG diet plan. Use a smaller plate put on top of a regular dinner plate for yourself.

My son is 5 years old, I cook for the both of us and when we go out, I order one entree for us. It's a lifestyle really, you will get used to it.

One thing I noticed was how much less I need to feed everyone now. It was a reality check to how much I was really eating.

This life to a healthier way has been a journey. We no longer fry or bread meats and veggies. Process foods are alot less. Sodas are out long ago. The trick is to do things gradually. I never make anyone feel like they have to but both my children and my husband have slimmed down not even knowing they were making an effort. They were never big but better eating couple with a busy schedule full of fun activities has made them very healthy!

The meal was one lean beef patty, 1/4 cup greens and 1/2 baked potato no toppings. I eat the beef and greens. I took a few bites of potato and knew I should quit but thought I need these calories, I lost dinner.< /p>

Not trying to discourage you but please look at those who had complications. Leaks and cut bowel to name a few. I had a cut bowel it is very rare but that rare complication happened to a real person. Please read Iggy's stories of a leak. Be sure that your willing to risk what may happen. I understand wanting to lose but I also know complications are very real.

I am not wanting to discourage you just asking you carefully consider all possibilities.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
