When does eating stop hurting?

Recommended Posts

I am two months postop but experience pain when food enters my stomach. I try to chew my food really well but everything that is not pureed hurts. When can I expect to be able to eat regular food without experiencing pain when the food enters my stomach?

I'm 3 month out. Eating doesn't hurt me but it is often uncomfortable or feels weird. I actually don't mind the trade off if stays that way.

But it shouldn't hurt. Are you swallowing air maybe? That might cause discomfort.

For me, when I ate too large of bites, didn't chew enough or ate too quickly would result in pain. As long as I avoid those 3 old habits, I'm OK. This is as true today as it was at 2 months out.

19 months out and last night, during the football game (Go Ducks!) I ate a chicken leg soaked in wing sauce and blue cheese dressing. Tasted wonderful, but I ate too much too quickly and I was hurting for about 15 minutes afterward. 19 months out and old habits are still present. But, for the most part, I am able to stay with my new habits.

Make sure you are chewing everything well. I still feel discomfort when I am full. Make sure you have enough time to eat. I was in a hurry to eat one day to get to a meeting at work on time. I ended up being late for the meeting because I had to vomit. Take your time eating and chew your food well. You should be better then.
