Wicked, the musical

Recommended Posts

Okay everyone, I have seen Wicked, the musical 5 times now, and can't wait to see it again. Lots of people I know are now addicted to it. So, anyone seen it? Any comments? I would love to hear about it.

I saw it when it first opened and loved it. I recommend you rent the Wizard of Oz before going to review the story, although most of us probably have the entire movie memorized.

Wonderful music.

My boss gave me tickets to see it on Broadway last year as a holiday bonus. I'd already memorized the score and was THRILLED to finally see it on stage. It's brilliant! I only wish I'd been able to see Idina Menzel as Elphaba, but it was wonderful nonetheless.

I wish they could get Peter Jackson to do the movie. :P

Well, I know that Idina Menzel was good, because she was the first, but I have to say my favorite Elphaba would have to be Stephanie Block. Who is now doing the lead in the Pirate Queen in Chicago before it hits Broadway. I had the chance to see the original cast in New York right after it opened, but the people I was with thought it sounded stupid, so we didn't go. GRRRRRRR. I should have gone by myself. Anyway, I love the musical so much more than the book, of course, I only listen to audio books, but it's the same. The book was too dark I think. I love how they work so many remarks in from the Wizard of Oz. It is just totally hillarious. You're laughing one minute, then crying the next. So, any favorite actors or actresses from Wicked?

Hi Hunny! I see you live in Chicago, huh? Sounds like I will have to come up there some day and take you to see it. It is incredible! I know you would love it. Have you seen many musicals? I am a piano player, and I have the music to Wicked, and I love to play it.

So Hunny, what's your story? Tell us about you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
