went to gym worked out. Afterwards cousin and I stopped at smoothie king. I ask sales associate for something high Protein low sugar she suggested the shredder I ask her what flavor she said any of them. She said they all didnt have sugar in them. Well I got a small one.20 oz. . I didnt quite finish it. It took me about 3 hours or so to finish about 3/4 of it. Now I could eat before I left home this morning due to one I wasnt hungry and two it was just to early in the morning for me to eat. I started feeling funny coming home. So I decided to check my blood sugar when I got home. It was 160 about an hour after last drink of the crap. So I went on smoothie king web site it had 41 grams of sugar and only 30 grams of protein. Now I feel really tired and like crap. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well if it was a fruit smoothie know that ALL fruit is high in sugar. They might not add any but there is lots already there. Live and learn I guess and next time be prepared: bring your snack/lunch with you to eat after, string cheese, coldcuts, hard boiled egg, shrimps.

Now I probably should have looked this up prior to making this comment but I believe the best choice would have been the gladiator..

From what I remember it has over 40 grams of Protein and very little/no sugar.

Ok- here is the edit...

According to my supervisor ( a health junkie), the gladiator has no sugar and 1 carb but they tell you to add two fruits. The sugar and carb amounts are then based on which two you add.

Thanks Lezzie, it had the gladiator in it. But from web site it had also 41 gram sugar. My sugar is back down to 93 so it is coming back down

Don't beat yourself up. You did the best you could at the time and now you can move on. This was a mistake to learn from. We all make them. Now you know and won't do it again! If you have a smartphone, see if you can look up any food on your phone if you are in the situation before you order it and realize that clerks may not be the best source of information. If you don't have a phone, stick to places you have information about. I stuck a packet of a Protein shake powder in my purse that just takes Water so that if I am ever in a situation and need something, I have an optoin at hand. As you go along, you will develop tools to deal with different situations. Just keep your eyes on the goal you want!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
