I think my scale is broken

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on December 17th and have lost a total of 11 pounds since surgery date. I am very disappointed after seeing other people's weight loss on this site. My biggest concern is I have not lost an ounce in like 5-6 days....the scale will not budge. I don't understand how this is possible being I'm taking in so few calories daily. I'm getting very discouraged :-(

Are you getting your fluids in and what are you consuming every day?

You may have hit a stall. Don't get discouraged, sounds like you are doing everything right. :)

That is the dreaded 3 week stall , I went through that ... That one stall lasted approx 2 weeks for me before I saw the scale move again ... your body is just adjusting , you are doing fine ... keep up the good work

I agree, it sounds like you are doing everything right and now it just takes patience. I would venture to guess you are still losing inches though! My doctor warned and warned and warned me that I will have multiple stalls and it's your body's way of trying to figure out what the heck you just did ... but never fear, it will keep coming off once your body gets on board with the program.

Are you doing some walking? How about elimination, on track? Benefiber lightens a person up when things are clogged. Of course, Water drinking too.

That is really not a bad loss. Comparing yourself to others on the forum is not always wise. Different starting weights, metabolisms, genetics, etc. many factors influence weight loss rate.

Be assured, if you keep doing the right things, the fat will come off. Our bodies have a mind of their own. They are not easily trained but are capable of being changed if you have the patience. Give yourself time.

I gained my weight over 20 years. Losing it in 1-2 years is a bargain.

Thank you!! Definitely makes me feel better but still hard to see how hard I'm working and not seeing any progress. I hope my body figures out what is going on soon so I can start seeing some progress!!

You are fine. While I was home the scale hardly moved but my clothes were bigger. Then the scale started to move & all is good. Don't be discouraged.

You are doing great!! I hit a three week stall that started week 3. It's a very normal feeling to be anxious regarding the surgery and weight loss. ("Am I a failure?" "What if this is it?") The weight will come off! :)

Thanks you!!! Good to know others have experienced this and made it through. Hard not to get discouraged but I'm definitely trying.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
