I hate foods that i used to love!

Recommended Posts

I'm 9 months out from surgery and still don't like the following:

1. eggs

2. oatmeal

3. Lettuce

4. Carved turkey

5. Full fat milk

6. chocolate milk

7. Plain Water

8. Apple juice

9. Meatloaf

10. Bacon strips (the crumbles are fine)

11. Sausage patties (the links are fine)

12. chicken legs

13. Fried fish

14. Plain yogurt ( but I love Greek)

15. Peanuts (still love peanut butter)

16. Raisins

I could go on and on. What is going on? Some of these things are a plus but some I would love to love again.

Thats a big list! I can now eat anything I used to like (2 years out) but only lost my desire to eat a few foods early out...the list was never as long as yours... mostly sweet stuff...which now is just fine! (too bad!)

That is a big list. I am starting month 5 and still can't eat avocados and eggs which I used to love. I am really surprised you can't go back to more of what is on that list! There are really good foods on that list!!! Bummer!

Yuck, I would be so bummed if I couldn't have eggs since they are pretty much a staple Breakfast for me or a quick go to meal at home. Have you talked to your NUT about any of those?

Nut just says oh well, your body and taste knows what it likes. My surgeon is an advocate for a Protein shake breakfast every day, and then Protein high "snack"-typical breakfast around 10, which is usually skipped by me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
