Good decaf tea?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of a good Decaf hot tea (or cold, for that matter)? I want to try to get used to it before surgery. Wanting just a good, black tea, maybe flavored. Not Earl Grey or citrus blends, though.

I use Luzzianne Decaf tea bags for iced tea, every day. I noticed no real difference in taste. It seemed a bit weaker, so I brewed it a bit stronger the next time, but it was an easy swap for me. Before banding I quit drinking caffeinated soda as well, and found very little taste difference there either. It was nothing like adjusting to the Diet as compared to the full sugar versions!! Headache was the worst of it, from the caffeine withdrawals.

Yeah, I'd rather drink unsweetened iced tea or Water than a diet soda. They taste horrible to me. And to honest, if I am taking the effort to eat or drink something, I want it to actually taste decent. I have a hard time finding decaf soda, though. Usually all I can find in stores is decaf diet soda, which isn't going anywhere near my mouth. I went off sodas and sugar-sweetened tea for a while several months ago and didn't really miss them, so I think I am going to try it again.

Luzianne here as well. I think it's better than Liptons for iced tea.

And if you want to add some interest to it on occasion, sugar free flavored syrups are great in iced tea.

I tried quite a few from very expensive to inexpensive. And.........the least expensive was my choice...not because of price but because of flavour. I drink "Our Compliments" which is Sobeys house brand.

Green Tea makes excellant Ice Tea and the lemon compliments the green tea perfectly.

I drink Twinnings, tazo or stash. All are a bit more expensive but still cheaper than soda. I have a huge cabinet of tea, that is almost all I drink. I invested in a Brita Water dispenser, it filters and dispenses tap water. It has a hot and cold tap and I love it for my tea. I use a packet of splenda and some fat free cream in my hot tea. Just splenda in the iced tea. I brew Luzianne in my coffee maker and always have a gallon of iced tea in the fridge. I am down to buying a single case of soda a month now, from 2 a week. Only DH drinks soda of any kind, and he takes it to work with him. I know that tetley has a sampler pack as does twinnings, both on the websites I believe. I like to try new things. My fave is cranberry and I know you said no citrus but I love the orange peach from tetley. It is a nice red tea with I believe hybiscus(sp?) in it, very rich and warm. I would suggest looking at the variety boxes in the tea section. And if you have a trader Joe's near you they have a huge selection of tea, including white tea. ~Mandy

Someone told me to try the Giant Supermarket brand Decaf tea.

I really cannot taste the difference and it doesn't keep me up at

nite.

I use generic tea, if I am going to add some flavoring to it, like orange peels, or cinnamon. If not I stick with what I know. My mom jokes that I am a southern tea snob. I guess I am, but I sure can tell a difference. ~Mandy

Plain old Lipton Decaf is delicious. Loads of luck. Fran

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
