How was ur pain? And the lifting?

Pain wasn't bad, but everyone has different procedures. I didn't have a drain which I can tell from reading causes pain.

They found a hernia while doing my sleeve. That part if the surgery hurt MUCH worse than my sleeve and I was ok to go after say 4. I went to my 9 year old step daughters last soccer game that day and walked up and down the sidelines. I was up to shopping after that and had a good day.

My husband left for school 2 weeks after my surgery and it was me taking care of 3 kids. My baby girl just turned 1 when I had surgery and I didn't have any problems picking her up when I was 4 days post op. She weighs about 18 lbs and I also continued to breastfeed her after surgery :) My 2 older kids I didn't pick up until I was about a month post op and that was only for a couple of seconds. I don't think I had any lifting restrictions.

My doctors orders were to not lift anything heavier than 10lbs for two weeks after surgery... I was picking up my 10 month old pretty much my 5th day out without any pain. Just start training the baby now to crawl to you and lift ONLY with your arms and not your core and it shouldn't hurt at all.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
