I had my surgery 7 months ago and have only been to the dr once last month for an ER visit for a wreck. Besides telling them no NSAIDS or blind tubes for my chart, it was the same ole' same ole'.

My insurance refuses to pay for any WLS aftercare or related issues... Including urgent care and pre-death. ( I know for a fact because I died twice with the lapband and that was $100 grand out of pocket) My primary dr is great about never mentioning WLS, but if I was ever needing hospital or ER I'm on my own to pay for it

Holy cow! How scary! I noticed your user ID is MsAntiLapband. Was your "death scare" related to surgery or the lapband or bad medical care?

All lapband complications. The first time a Local surgeon removed it because I was bleeding death.. Literally! I was so naive I rebanded a couple months later because I was more scared of gaining weight than dying. The second time I Was unconscious when rushed to ER with no BP. The took the band and warned I could never ever have it again. I had the band for 6 ish years and was down to 104 lbs.. Sounds great, but what I hid from family was my weeping Iron infusions and monthly blod transfusions. I wish I would have know about the sleeve and I would have done that and NEVER the band

I'm so happy you're recovering and healthy. I very briefly considered the Band but felt the Sleeve was my best bet.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
