My doctor required Isopure for the first four days after my surgery. I'm not a big fan, but I did follow my dr's orders then stopped drinking it after the four days, moving on to other Protein Drinks like Premier. My husband had the same requirement, but continues to drink Isopure now (he's five months out) because he likes it and likes the 40 grams of Protein. He likes the green and black Ice Tea flavors. :)

Isopure Alpine punch is the only Protein I can tolerate now... I did Premier Protein shakes for pre and post op, and now am totally SICK of all of those sickeningly sweet shakes... I do Isopure over ice with a wedge of lime in my glass... sometimes when I am feeling froggy, I chill it in a martini shaker and serve it in a martini glass!

I tried the grape Isopure today and didn't like it. It has a funny after taste to me.

I use it daily... ALpine Punch and Grape are my go to flavors... I usually mix it with 2 parts Water to 1 part Isopure and take all day to drink it....that way Im guaranteed to get at least 40 ounces of Water plus 40 ounces of Protein with little effort...

it does have a "whey" aftertaste but by diluting it, I hardly notice it... there are days I drink it straight

I like the Alpine Punch and I can tolerate the Grape Frost. I thought I would like the Apple Melon but it's just too much for me. It tastes better when it's ICE COLD. I fill a cup with ice and pour Isopure over it and sip until I can fit more in there and just keep pouring. The days when I can get down the whole bottle (there for 40grams of protein) I lose better. I'm about to start stocking up on the stuff.

I have also mixed a little bit of crystal light Appletini to kick at the taste a little bit. it does have an odd aftertaste but the Alpine is tolerable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
