Good Morning Everyone! Day 4 post op I start my Protein Drinks phase 2 today! Can you guys tell me what you've found to be the best? Right now I have Unjury chocolate milk, vanilla cake batter, and flavored chicken noodle Soup. Which if I mix with Water will give me 30 something grams protein... I having a very hard time getting in all the fluids.

So what is your favorite drinks, how do mix, add ins? Any tips would be appreciated! !

I bought some PB2 (they have it at amazon) to mix with my shakes. It makes it tolerable.

I couldn't stand the taste of the Unjury shakes, so I found EAS Protein Shakes, they are in Walmart, Shop rite supermarkets etc..and I've seen them on Amazon. I get the EAS chocolate (they also come in Vanilla, Cafe, strawberry that I've seen) and there are 3 different kinds. EAS Myoplex which has 20 g Protein, EAS Light, 17 g protein and EAS with 42 g of protein in it. The higher the protein, the thicker/richer the shake I found. The EAS 42 g of Protein One was a god send to me because it helped me to get in half of my required protein in one drink. I like them cold, so I would sip it for a while mixed in a cup of ice. I find these to be very tasty and doesn't have a chalky taste at all. The only problem I've had now (and I'm 7 weeks out) is I'm eating regular meats now and I find the 42 gr Protein Shake to be too heavy for me now... Your body changes, but I will tell you for those first 5 weeks, they were a godsend to me! Got me through the liquid only and the soft stages very easily!

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
