any November sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved the same day 11/8 . I eat pretty much what ever I want but chew chew chew is the key. I mostly eat like others grilled chicken, chicken salad, egg salad, turkey meatballs, turkey Bacon, I've had piece of quesadilla but I can't eat much of the tortilla, normally pick the chicken out of it. I also have Cereal in the mornings now sometimes but I let it get super soggy its the special k Protein Yummers!

For me its trial and error at this point and let me tell ya my sleeve let's me know when its not happy. I still do Protein shakes to hit 60gr of Protein, and as the days pass I get better at getting all my fluids in. :)

I was sleeved on the 5th with no complications. Im down 54 pounds and have been cleared to eat anything since three weeks out. I stick to straight Protein when I have my meals and substitute a Protein shake when I am not able to consume a meal or achieve my protein goal of 120 grams. I have notice if I don't hit my Fluid goals it gets harder to eat a meal the following day. I haven't hit a stall yet unless you call only being down 2 pounds for one week. Life has been great and I feel wonderful.

Oh my Bless you, your my inspiration. I couldn't hit 120 gr of protein for my life right now unless I drank protein shakes all day.

If you don't mind my asking at what point were you told 120 gr was the protein goal? Thanks

I was told by my NUT during the pre-op appointment because I am a 6'1" male.

I was hardcore on getting it on the first three week post op. I was able to get all in but it was a struggle. Now I stick to straight protein and no carbs. I haven't stepped in a gym yet and don't plan on it until I stop losing.

You weren't told to stay away from bread' date=' Pasta, rice for a while? I am not allowed to eat till 9 months post op as they expand in your stomach and stretch sleeve. Also not allowed Protein bars until 3 months out as too harsh on the stomach. No soda also till 3 months. Great job on the loss :)[/quote']

Thank you! Yes I was told to stay away from those foods. I really dont crave them either so ive been doing good.

I have a question for you all! I've noticed that as I begin to explore and eat more "meat/protein" that I have a much harder time getting down the Protein shakes. They sit so heavy now when they didn't before. I had an EAS Protein shake that gave me 42 g of protein in one shake, it was wonderful because that met half of my daily requirement! Now, I can't drink it at all, it's way too heavy! SO.. for those of you able to eat meats or cheese, eggs etc.. now do you really know how much protein you are getting in with them? I've taken ground turkey or beef and made meatballs slightly larger than a sweedish meatball.. I can eat maybe 1 in a sitting.. or I've had maybe 1/4 of a slice of real turkey, ham or steak etc... how do I know how much protein this really is? I'm afraid now that the shakes are completely unappealing to me that I'm not getting in nearly enough protein.

I do find I have to eat/drink something every 2-3 hours, but then also try to get in all my liquids so it's hard. I'm doing well, tolerating everything great so far (knock on wood) but really can't figure out if I'm getting enough in.

Thanks!

OMG!! I thought it was just me! My protein shakes sit so heavy on my tummy now too that is why I have been trying to experiement with foods to try to get all my protein.

I use myfitnesspal just to log in foods to see the nutrional value, I also use a scale and measuring cups to be able to record everything acurately. If I make something do not finish I just go back and readjust my portion size in myfitnesspal to what I have eaten so I can stay on point.

I think the best thing to do is if you are able sign up for myfitness pal they even have the app for your phone or keep a journal but I do find myfitnesspal to be the best since most foods are already in there

I also struggle at times getting all 64oz of fluids in, doesn't seem like there is enough time in a day. :)

OMG you are so right, there are not enough hours in the day to get it all in!! I feel like all I do is eat and drink! I have a real "dumb" phone, I haven't come up to the 21st century yet with a smart phone, is the myfitnesspal only an app? I haven't heard of that before. I bet if I log in the Protein I'm eating, I'm not even close! :( I really need to find a way to get those shakes in.. bleck! LOL I don't know why all of a sudden they sit sooo heavy when before they were fine!

Go figure! :)

I feel the same as everyone else!! Can't get enough Water in. I hardly drank before surgery so it's really hard now. Prob get 32oz a day:( my friends say I'm a camel lol. I eat too fast and pay for that later and the thought of a Protein Shake - ugh! I guess old habits are hard. The only time I take my time eating is if I'm doing something else - like now. Eating Breakfast and on here. I try to get my Protein in with food and I think I do a good job. I just looked up the common foods I eat and track it. My fitness pal is good or just writing it down. Good luck everyone

You can visit myfitnesspal.com and log everything in online, I use the computer more then I do the phone app, I think it will help you.

With the shakes I use Unjury so I normally try to switch it up here and there sometimes I will add ice , 1 tsp of instant caffine free coffee, 1 cup of lactose free fat free milk and 1 scoop of the vanilla protein and it tastes like a frappacino (sp?) a bit.

Lap band removed and sleeve was done on Nov. 28th. On 29th stent was inserted due to leak. I had been throwing up ever since. I was not that heavy to begin with (160) due to band but after the removal of band, having sleeve done, stent being inserted and then a bad infection that required drainage and two more week long hospital stay, I can finally report that a month later I had drains removed, stent removed just this Thursday and I have not thrown up since. Feeling so good and can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Sleeved on 11-5 weighing in at 286. Currently at 245.... I'm not strict on the foods I eat. I do stick to high Protein, low carbs. But I don't measure my foods. I eat until I'm satisfied, not until full. The past two weeks have been a challenge for me, but I'm doing ok. I'm ready to get back to work & my daily routine. The hardest part of this whole thing is my Water intake. Before Christmas vacation, I was getting about 100 0z of water daily, but now I'm struggling to get the 64oz.

I love my sleeve & wish I had done it years ago! I'm excited to see myself in 6 months!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
