I am 16 days post-op (surgery on Dec. 17). I am wondering how long everybody stayed swollen? I still am very bruised on my abdomen where the hole was for the instrument. Even though I had to bleeding complication (under All Things Dr. Ponce in the Mexico thread). I just still feel so swollen and sore. Today is the first day I mights actually get in an entire 33 oz. bottle of Water and 60+ grams Protein. It has been rough getting all of this in. Anyway, just curious as to when I won't feel so sore and swollen? Thanks!

I'm still pretty swollen and I was the 19th. My doctor put me on steroids and still has me taking the pain medicine so I can get food and Water down. I go see him again tomorrow and he had hoped the swelling would be a lot better but it's not so I'm not too sure what he has planned. I guess we will see. Good luck and just go slow, I know how it feels though and it sucks. When your in pain you have no interest in food and without being hungry, it's hard to force yourself to eat. I hope it gets better for both of us soon!

Hey Angie, I think it must be different from one to another because I was only a bit swollen for a couple days and never noticed any after that. I am also very bruised, but then I bruise very easily anyway. I feel awful about all you've gone through and I wish you a quick recovery from here out. {{ hugs}}

Yes... Extremely swollen. I was sleeved December 28....I am having a couple of issues with swelling and two of my port sites. I'm hoping that my stomach will deflate soon. I look like a little pumpkin.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
