Dec 19 Sleevers? 2 weeks out!

Recommended Posts

Hello Dec 19 sleevers,

How are you doing? I am a bit disappointed at my progress. I have just a 4pound lost this week and I just can't comprehend that sooo early on. I have not cheated and am doing exercise about 5x a week. I must say I don't think I meet my liquids requirements and Protein. My surgeon requires liquid Protein shots that taste HORRENDOUS and I gag every time I take it, so scared of vomiting I haven't taken them. I am going to try Isopure starting today. Do you think that my slow weight lost has to do with the no protein? I would hope not. If so, I might start thinking I could have just started Atkins.......

Hi, Congratulations on the 'no cheating', I know it's not easy! I was sleeved on the 19th too, and I'm also having difficulty getting protien shakes down. I can start with eggs, cottage cheese on the 5th, and I'm really looking forward to a way to get some protien not in a shake! I don't have any suggestions for your weight loss, but I'd check with my surgeon or nurse...maybe they have seen this and have some ideas. Either way, we are in it for the long haul, and while a quick loss can be rewarding, eventually it HAS to come off if we continue to eat fewer calories, right? Keep up the good work!

Teri

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
