Not tolerating any protein supplement on clear, week one

Recommended Posts

My surgery was12/28, I had SILS and am blessed. So here at day 4 I am not getting enough fluids, but close. Definitely not getting 60gm of Protein. The supplements that I purchased make me so nauseated. I never had sweet tooth, now I can't take any of the favors. I vomited on day 2 after trying protein Jello, talk about scary.

I did tolerate a nectar, coconut flavor, but barely.

So I am going to keep on my broths, organic chicken was best, my fluids and just have to work on protein in week 2. Vomiting was scary and I don't want to do it again.

So I do have a few bottles of Isopure if anybody needs them. I know that many people don't mind the flavor, you can message me or email me .

So I have experienced hyper taste changes, and sensitivity to smells. Looking forward to full liquids in a few days

In the beginning it was difficult for me drinking Protein Shakes made with milk. I started making mine with 4oz milk and 4oz Water and tolerated it much better.

I'm 7 weeks post op. I throw up from sip one on every Protein Drink I have tried. My nut and dr had be start Protein Bars at 5 weeks. That has been much easier on my tummy. I eat 1/2 a bar in the morning and afternoon for my Snacks. It works well and let's me get MUCH closer to my Protein goals for the day.

Unjury has a Protein chicken broth which is nice and an unflavored kind you can add to miso or whatever broth you like. It gets easier when you can have full liquids and can add the unjury unflavored to cream based Soups.< /p>

Re:super smell....I suffered from that for about a week, but others said it lasted as long as 7 months! My taste was affected and I didn't like the protein powders I bought, so I switched to nonfat powdered MILK....I was told to add it to Soups, etc to boost protein. I was allowed "full" liquids immediately after I left the hospital. Not sure what your doctor told you to do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
