Any Colorado sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Hey Colorado Sleevers! I'm scheduled for December 9, 2014 and was wondering if any of you who have had the sleeve can comment on staying hydrated here in Colorado? My husband worries if we go hiking I won't be able to get enough hydration...thoughts? Experiences?

Hi there,

Just as you would do for any other hike, just make sure to bring plenty of fluids with you. There isn't really anything additional that you need to do.

Best of luck,

Fran

I haven't been on here much lately but I'm in Colorado Springs and doing well. I'd love to find a running buddy if there is anyone local.

My Nut is Julie Anderson and I highly recommend her. She's helping me lose this last 20 stubborn pounds!

Monument here. Was starting to wonder if I was the only Co. on BP's.

Wish I could help with referrals but my Dr. is in Denver/Parker. Having my sleeve done this friday at Parker Adventist.

Not a runner per say but if you ever feel like "the Incline" I'm with you. They did a great job cleaning it up.

Feel free to contact me to talk, questions or plan some thing. Hope things go better for all of us.

Have downed more Water these last few weeks then probably the last 12 yrs. I have lived here….HA

Thanks everyone

As surgery day gets closer I would love to hear how Dr Brown and Colorado Bariatric patients are doing! I'm Beginning my pre op freak out :)

I was sleeved by Dr. Brown on 3/30/15. Dr. Brown, the anaesthesiologist, and nursing staff were wonderful. I left the hospital with minimal pain. My 2 week post op appointment is scheduled on 4/15/15. When are you scheduled?

Had the procedure Friday afternoon and really can not say enough good things about Dr. Brown and his team. With all the feed back from every one at BP's I was prepared for the worst and very happy to deal with the best. Just figuring out how to get all my Vitamins and fluids in. Whats really odd is Water is now the most appealing of all drinks…go figure.

Hope your healing continues, if your going to nutrition meeting on April 17th, I will see you then. PMJ

That is awesome! Congratulations! There is a support group tomorrow morning that I want to go to at 11:30 AM (I'm not back at until next week), and I will definitely be at the Thursday night group on 4/16. Yaaay! See you then!

Hi y'all! I'm in Denver and just starting the process at University of Colorado. I did the orientation last week and go for my consult Friday. We shall see what they say, fingers crossed I'm a candidate for a VSG.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
